Located in Puerto de la Cruz, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Loro Parque is a unique conservation zoo. Opening in 1970, the zoo is one of the oldest and most respected animal reserves in Spain. When it first opened, Loro Parque boasted the highest concentration of parrots and the first ever parrot show in Europe. Since its inception, more than 50 million tourists have passed through its gates and it was recently voted the Best Zoo in the world for 2017 and 2018 on TripAdvisor.
Looking after both its visitors and the welfare of the animals, Loro Parque has a friendly and nurturing environment. Yet Loro Parque is so much more than just a zoo: it is highly respected reserve which is on a conversational mission. After establishing its own foundation to protect endangered species and conserve biodiversity, Loro Parque carries out field research, educational work, responsible breeding programs and a variety of local activities.
While Loro Parque is primarily known for its famous parrot show, it is also home to gorillas, meerkats, tigers, anteaters, sea lions, cranes, iguanas and many more. This is a must visit for any animal lover or environmental enthusiast on holiday in Tenerife!
