Driven by a burning desire to become the greatest ballerina in the world, Victoria Page must face many challenges to achieve her dream. Talent spotted by the ballet impresario Boris Lermonotov, Victoria plays the lead role in Christian Andersen’s tale, The Red Shoes, and Lermontov commissions a young grouchy composer, Julian Craster to compose the performance. While a love story quickly unfolds between Victoria and Craster, the talented young dancer finds herself at a crossroads: she is forced to decide between her beloved dancing career and marrying her true love…
Along with Matthew Bourne’s spectacular choreography, the musical score is set to the mesmerising music of golden-age Hollywood composer Bernard Hermann, which is adapted and orchestrated by Terry Davies and played live by the New Adventures Orchestra.
