Wonderfully blending classical and contemporary, Akram Khan’s Outwitting the Devil is a sensational and expressive new piece which features incredibly sophisticated choreography and a deeply moving storyline.
Dating back to ancient Mesopotamia and drawing on an ancient narrative, Outwitting the Devil follows the story of King Gilgamesh, who is punished by the gods for destroying a cedar forest and killing its guardian. A wild man who has tamed his now friend Eniku, is also taken away from him.
To support the making of Khan’s masterpiece, his team also includes his close collaborators: dramaturg Ruth Little, composer Vincenzo Lamagna and rehearsal director Mavin Khoo. A beautifully unique production which has received an extremely positive reception, Outwitting the Devil is only showing at Sadler’s Wells Theatre for a limited time only in September 2020 so grab your tickets now!
