Pablo Penguin & Pals

Meet Pablo the playful and mischievous penguin and his friends as they glide around Sea Life Birmingham! With ice-cold temperatures of only 8 degrees, it gets rather chilly in Penguin Paradise so wrap up warm whilst you admire these magnificent creatures!

Mo the Giant Sea Turtle

Undoubtedly one of the most incredible and historic creatures in the world, Mo the Giant Sea Turtle is almost 40 years old and was rescued from a lady at Heathrow Airport who tried to smuggle him in her handbag! Turtles are a critically endangered species and Sea Life Birmingham strives to protect them.

Sharks

Considered one of the most deadly and feared creatures on the planet, there are over 500 species of shark of differing shapes and sizes. In order to campaign against unsustainable shark fishing in EU waters, the Sea Life Trust is currently working with the Shark Trust to fight against unsustainable shark fishing.

Seahorses and Pipe Fish

Seahorses and Pipe Fish are fascinating creatures, both of which belong to the Syngatheide Group. Discover and learn all about these awe-inspiring creatures as you venture through ‘The Kingdom of Seahorses’ on your visit.

Ozzy the Eel

Look carefully and spot Ozzy the Eel and his friends as they poke their heads out of rocks and hiding holes in the centre’s colourful, tropical displays!

Piranhas

Known for their vicious bite, Piranhas are curious creatures and you can learn all about them and their bite on this educational visit!

  • Car: if you are travelling by car, then you can take Junction 6 on the M6 or Junction 3 on the M5. Follow signs to the Birmingham Arena or for the city centre. You can enjoy 25% off if you park at Brindley Place.
  • Train: the closest train stations are Birmingham New Street and Birmingham Snow Hill. You can walk to the Sea Life Centre whilst following walking signs to the ICC. 
  • Tram: you can hop off the tram at the Library and then walk through Brindley Place. 
  • Bus: the closest bus station is Broad Street which serves bus number 1,9,10,22,23,24,29,29a,126

Useful Information

Access

Sea Life Birmingham is dedicated to being fully accessible, with disabled toilets and access throughout your visit. There are also Carer Tickets available for each disabled guest who purchases a ticket.

Please note that for health and safety reasons, Sea Life Birmingham can only accommodate 10 wheelchairs at a given time.

Food and Drink

There is not a cafe at Sea Life Birmingham. However, there are several restaurants and cafes within close proximity to the Sea Life Birmingham.

Buggy Policy

The Sea Life Birmingham is fully buggy accessible but there is not a cloakroom to store them.

Dogs & Other Animals

Guide Dogs are permitted in the centre but not other animals.

Covid

Sea Life Birmingham has met the ‘We are Good to Go’ Covid requirements and has it enhanced its cleaning. It has also reduced its capacity in line with the government guidelines.
