An epic drama which explores a relationship between a Nasa botanist, her sister and a climate activist, Walden is a gripping new drama coming to the West End in Spring 2021! A play which is part of Sonia Friedman and Ian Rickson’s Re-Emerge season on the West End, a space for new voices in the West End, Walden is one of the most exciting new productions on the West End!
Boasting a star-studded creative team, Walden is Amy Berryman’s debut play and is directed by Ian Rickson (Jerusalem, Uncle Vanya) and the cast includes Gemma Atterton (Quantum of Solace), Fehinti Balogun (Juliet Naked) and Lydia Wilson (the Duchess of Malfi).
Cassie, a NASA botanist, returns home after a year-long mission on the moon. She encounters a dramatic life change when she goes to join her estranged twin Stella, who was also a NASA architect, and has started a new life with climate activist Bryan in a cabin in the woods. Living together means that old wounds resurface and then the sisters must try to settle rivalries which has broken them apart.
